About AzPOS

AzPOS (Azerbaijan Positioning Observation System) is a network of 37 Continuously operating reference stations (CORS) in different regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This system constantly receives American GPS and Russian GLONASS satellite signals. The service offers the flexibility of both operations - RTK (real-time kinematics) and DGNSS (Differential Global Navigation Satellite System). RTK operations can be extended to longer distances than DGNSS operations. Both real-time transactions require reliable internet coverage. AzPOS also offers post-processing services. FFGIS stations operate 7 days / 24 hours a day. The system is also capable of receiving EU Galileo satellite signals, which are not yet fully operational. This system is based on the latest GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology products.

AzPOS is an information system that determines the coordinates of space-time with the help of receivers by processing high-precision data used in geodetic measurements in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. AzPOS network data is transmitted in electronic form in real time after processing by RTK and Differential Global Navigation Satellite system (DGNSS Post-Processing).

Services

Global satellite navigation systems, which have become an integral part of human activity in modern times, are of great importance due to their multifaceted application. The system has developed so far and there are areas of application that will develop in the future. The areas in which this system is currently applicable and expedient are:

All measurements performed within the Republic of Azerbaijan using AzPOS services are performed in the same system and format. Compilation of maps and cadastral works, engineering geodetic measurements, underground communication works, planning works, etc. is done faster and at a lower cost with the help of the system.

GNSS receivers are used in the construction of buildings and roads at measurement points. GPS equipment is used in this field of work. These dual-frequency receivers have the advantage of more accurate coordinates.

In addition, it can be used purposefully in agriculture. You can take advantage of this system by compiling a crop map that supports field monitoring during harvest. It is also very useful in the processing of raw materials and agricultural spraying.

Differential GNSS is used to measure crustal movements with high sensitivity. It is used to measure tension and seismicity in seismically active areas.

In addition to the above-mentioned capabilities, this system is successfully used in a number of other areas (mobile system, location, navigation, routing, travel cost determination, hydrometeorology, photo location, etc.) in many countries.

Stations

In our country, AzPOS stations are located at a distance of 30-40 km from each other. The radius of use of the stations is 20 km, communication distance is up to 70 km. There are 37 reference stations in the country, 3 of which are in the mountains.
